The WADA Executive Board is pleased to announce that Pat Richter, former
Director
of Athletics at the University of Wisconsin, will join Dr. Steven Long as a
keynote speaker
at the 2006 WADA Workshop. Barry
Alvarez had to cancel his appearance at the upcoming
WADA convention due to a last-minute change in his schedule.
“I want to let you know how badly I feel that I had to cancel my talk to the
Wisconsin AD
Association Workshop,” Barry wrote in a personal note after informing the
WADA Board.
“I have the greatest respect for the job that is done in the high schools in
Wisconsin. I certainly
would like to speak to your group at another time if it would work for
you. Please extend my
apologies to your membership.”

Richter & Dr. Long each will be the keynote speaker at each of two
sessions for the
Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association 2006 statewide convention in
Appleton.
Richter, now retired from the University of Wisconsin, and Dr. Long, one of
the top Sport Psychology Performance Enhancement Specialists in North
America, will speak when the
40th annual WADA Workshop takes place Nov. 5-6-7 at the Radisson Paper Valley
Hotel.
Richter will be the keynote speaker for the Opening Session on Sunday
afternoon, Nov. 5.
His talk will be “The Greatness of a Loss.”
Dr. Long will be the keynote speaker on the morning of Monday, Nov.
6. His talk will be
“Character From the Inside Out.”
