NEW A.D. WORKSHOP -- TWO DAYS THIS YEAR: AUG. 5 & 6
There is a “New A.D. Workshop” this fall at the WIAA
Office in Stevens Point,
and it will have a new, TWO-DAY format this
year… on both Tuesday and
Wednesday, Aug. 5 & 6. The
event is for any new athletic administrators,
or, for any veterans. Sign up today!

Openings remain for the 24th annual WADA Golf Outing. The event
will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at the Ridges Golf Course
in Wisconsin Rapids. Everyone is

FUTURE OF THE WADA:
Mission, Vision & Purpose
Individuals spent nearly two full days in a comprehensive
Strategic Planning
session, as many aspects regarding the future of the WADA were discussed.
The details will be presented and reviewed in June, 2008 by the WADA
Executive Board, and the WADA membership will vote this
fall on a proposed
change in the Mission, Vision and Purpose statement. Read more.

WADA VICE PRESIDENT CANDIDATE INFO
The WADA membership will elect
each fall a Vice
President, and that
person will become one of the officers
of the organization. The
position
requires a
4-year commitment to the WADA… as the person selected
will serve
one year each, in order, as Vice President, President Elect,
President,
and Past President.
To help potential candidates understand the basics of the process, and steps
involved,

STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION SET BY WADA BOARD
There will be a 2-day Strategic Planning session in April, 2008, as many
aspects
regarding the future of the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association (WADA)
will be determined, it was announced today by the WADA Executive Board.
The focus of the “WADA Working Weekend” is to enable the organization
to plan for the future direction for the WADA, which is dedicated to serving
all
athletic directors and athletic administrators at high schools and middle
schools
in Wisconsin. Read more details.

WADA SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE IS APRIL 1
The deadline for applications regarding the WADA Scholarship Program
is fast approaching. The
application packet must be postmarked by no later
than April 1, 2008. Plan ahead,
especially if your school will be on spring break

DISTRICTS TO HOLD SPRING CAUCUS IN APRIL
Each of the seven WADA districts will hold their Spring Caucus
in April.
The agenda for the district meeting will be sent out by your District Rep.
One important item will be completion of the nomination process regarding
two prestigious WADA awards:
District Athletic Director of the Year and
the Distinguished Service Award -- in each district.

or for more specific info regarding your Spring Caucus,
such as date, time & site.
The annual WADA State AD of the Year award recipient comes from those
individuals selected as District AD of the Year
recipients.

Anyone who still wants to attend either of the two Educational Workshops
presented by Dr. Greg Dale of Duke University MAY still register… ON-SITE.
The sessions, offered by the Wisconsin Athletic Directors
Association, are
for coaches or athletic directors.
His presentation, “Developing the Credible Coach: A Model for Success”
is available for anyone interested. One is at Wisconsin Lutheran High
School
in Milwaukee on Friday, March 14, and one is at Verona
High School on

The NIAAA is sponsoring a
scholarship for any student-athlete in a high school
in which the athletic director is currently a member of both the
NIAAA and

FIRE DAMAGES HOUSE, GARAGE OF MARSHFIELD AD
An early-morning fire on Feb. 12 damaged the house and garage of Len
Luedtke,
the athletic director and head football coach at Marshfield High School. Len and
his wife, Diane, were not injured.
They escaped with their coats, as the fire burned
their house, garage and two vehicles parked inside. Read how you can make

WADA TO PRESENT DR. GREG DALE

implemented in 2008-09.

FALL CAUCUS INFO ANNOUNCED
Each of the seven Districts will hold their Fall
Caucus meeting during the
WADA Workshop. This year’s
meetings will be held on Sunday, Nov. 4,
from 4:45 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton.
Elections will be held in Districts I, III, V, and VII for a District Rep
and a Gender Rep. Details –

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED FOR WADA WORKSHOP
Bruce Brown and Brian Cain, two nationally-known individuals, each will be
the
keynote speaker at each of two sessions for the statewide Wisconsin Athletic
Directors Association convention to be held in Appleton.
Brown, director of Proactive Coaching in Seattle, Washington, and Cain,
director of Brian Cain Peak Performance in Richmond, Vermont, will speak
when the 41st annual WADA Workshop takes place Nov. 4-5-6, 2007 at
the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel.
