DISTRICT III - FALL WORKSHOP CAUCUS

Minutes
1. The
meeting was called to order at 4:57 by Mike Devine (Baraboo).
2. Members
in attendance were: (see attached list)
A special welcome was given
to Ron Wolf 1st year AD from Elk Mound.
Also, congratulations to Miles Oakey (Portage) just elected President of
Conference Commissioners Association.
3. Motion was made by Joe Beran (La Crosse Central) and
seconded by Tom Curran (Tomah) to approve the minutes of the spring caucus
meeting.
4. The election of the WADA Vice President was discussed. Interested persons would be a four-year
commitment.

Motion by Bryan Yager
(Reedsburg), seconded by Miles Oakey (Portage) that the District III
Representative be Mike Devine (Baraboo).
Passed unanimously. Motion made by Joe Beran, seconded by Kathy Allen
that the Gender Representative will be Linzi Gronning (Holmen). Passed unanimously. Congratulations to Mike and Linzi.
6. Mikes
Oakey was chosen District III nominee for the NIAAA delegate to the National
Convention in Orlando.
7. Mike Devine encourages District III AD's to support the
50-50 raffle run by retired AD's.
8. Those
in attendance were reminded of the WIAA Open Forum 10:00 - 12:00 Tuesday, Nov
6, 2001.
9. The
Spring Caucus will be held April 3, 2002 at the Tomah Holiday Inn. We will meet at 12:00 noon for lunch with
the meeting to start at 12:45 pm. Price
and tip will be arranged by Mike Devine.
1O. The DSA recipient from
District III will be David (Pee Wee) Clift from La Farge.
11. The Mississippi Valley
Conference was responsible for District III wind-up luncheon door prize. Tom Curran (Tomah) arranged this for
us. He secured 18 holes of golf with
cart for 4 people, $50 certificate to Tee Pee Supper Club, and certificate to
Cranberry Suites Motel, all in the Tomah area.
Thanks to Tom for organizing this.
12. Discussion
followed with Sports Advisory news.
All
pole vaulters need to wear helmets beginning 2002. They may need to use the “ sport helmet" i.e bicycle
helmets.
- Baseball coaches requested an increase from 12
to 17 games for 9th grade baseball. This was passed by the Sports Advisory
Committee but denied by the Board of Control.
- 9th grade baseball will still be limited to I 2
games this year.
- Softball and baseball will be seeded this year.
- September 1 school start date will be one topic
of Open Forum.

- Discussion followed concerning WADA
Mentoring. Miles Oakey feels it
should be "revived".

Kathy Allen inquired if any middle school start
practice before school starts. Onalaska and Cochran-Fountain City - both yes.
- Announcement made by WIAA that Girl's golf will
be split into divisional format for tournaments.
18. Motion
to adjourn meeting was made by Randy Fabian, second by Gretchen Pease.
