Minutes

1. The meeting was called to order by Mike Devine (Baraboo-Stevens Point) at 4:45 PM.

A special welcome was extended to 1^st year AD’s Doug Freiermuth from Baraboo and John Frizzell from Weston.

2. Members in attendance were:

3. Motion was made by Joe Beran (La Crosse Central) and seconded by Randy Fabian (Mauston) to approve the minutes of the spring caucus meeting. Motion carried.

4. Mark Kryka from Verona will be the new WADA Vice President

5. District III candidates for delegates to the NIAAA National Convention in San Antonio will be Miles Oakey, Portage; Joe Beran, La Crosse Central and Terry Allen, Eau Claire Regis.

6. Mike Devine encouraged AD’s to support the 50-50 raffle run by retired AD’s.

7. The Spring Caucus will be held April 2, 2003 at the Tomah Holiday Inn. Tom Curran (Tomah) will make arrangements. We will meet at 12:00 noon for lunch with the meeting to start at 12:45 pm. Lunch, tax and tip will be $9.

8. The DSA recipient from District III will be Mike Sullivan from Eau Claire. Dave Turner (Eau Claire North) will present Mike at the banquet.

9. All present were encouraged to bring questions for the WIAA to the Open Forum.

10. The Big Rivers Conference has acquired a very nice door prize from District III to be awarded at the Tuesday luncheon. The door prize includes golf at Wild Ridge, golf at River Falls Country Club, lodging in Menomonie, and a Jacob Leinenkugel gift package from Chippewa Falls. Thank you to the Big Rivers AD’s.

11. With Mike Devine’s move from Baraboo to Stevens Point, an election was held to choose a replacement for Mike as District III Representative.

Barb Buswell (West Salem) nominated Linzi Gronning – Holmen.

Miles Oakey (Portage) seconded the nomination.

Jerry Berseth (Fall Creek) nominated Mark Froehle – Eau Claire Memorial

Dave Turner (EC North) seconded the nomination.

Linzi Gronning (Holmen) was elected as District III Rep.

Nominations were accepted for a new Gender Rep to replace Linzi Gronning.

Tom Curran (Tomah) nominated Ron Johnson (Onalaska).

Todd Fisher (Logan) seconded nomination.

Ron Johnson (Onalaska) selected as District III Gender Rep.

12. News from Sports Advisory Committee

WIAA is considering moving Girls State Soccer to Carthage College. They have a great sports turf field. Boys Soccer may also be moved to Carthage.

Reminder of new rules governing Pole vault landing pit and helmet.

14. WADA Golf Outing will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 12 noon. Please contact Bill Vickroy – WI Rapids.

15. Bill Vickory – WI Rapids will be taking over the mentor program. Please fill out volunteer forms available here.

16. Miles Oakey – Portage expressed thanks to Mike Devine for his service to District III.

17. Motion to adjourn meeting was made by Mark Froehle, second by Graeme Williams.
