  14. WADA Golf Outing Tuesday, July 20 at Ridges, Wisconsin Rapids at 12:00 noon. All district AD's are encouraged to attend and it is a lot of fun! LTC classes and CAA exams will be scheduled in conjunction with the golf outing!

  15. Annual WADA Workshop (Date & Location) Spring vs. fall Annual WADA workshops was discussed. The majority of those present favored a fall workshop. Joe Beran (La Crosse Central) asked if we had any concerns about Appleton or Paper Valley. The workshop was moved from Stevens Point because inadequate space for vendors and the need to place vendors in two separate rooms.

  16. WIAA Concerns
    1. Baseball Season
      • 17--9th grade games this year (not 12)
      • Moved back one week
      • Pete Swanson (Viroqua) expressed concern over WIAA having only one season after 2006. He was encouraged to bring this up at the WIAA Open Forum.
    2. Officials selection process for tournament events was discussed. Regionals groupings determine who will work first and second round games in all team sports in lieu of WIAA assigning. Arcadia experimented and it worked well.
    3. The group was in favor of keeping the present WIAA rule that prevents schools from issuance of protective equipment.
    4. Mark Froehle (Eau Claire Memorial) stated that Minnesota counts holiday tournaments (BB, Hockey, volleyball, wrestling) as one game experience. WIAA counts each individual game. Should the WIAA consider this?
    5. Concerns were raised regarding increasing game maximum totals because of budget implications.

  17. The Spring District III Caucus Location & Date
    • Ideas were discussed. No date and time were set. (Mark Kopplin volunteered the prison in New Lisbon).

  18. WADA Mini-Sessions
    • District III AD Mike Blair (Chippewa Falls) will present a mini-session entitled "Developing Passion in Your Coaches".

  20. WSAW Awards & Scholarships
    • November 21 is the deadline to nominate a female athlete for Women's Sports Advocacy awards and scholarships. Those ADs who have attended in the past say it is an excellent banquet to recognize female athletes. Scholarships are awarded based on a random draw out of the hat at the banquet.
