“Sports Administration in the 21st Century”
41st annual WADA Workshop was held this past November
|
|
|
The 41st annual gathering of the Wisconsin Athletic Directors
Association was conducted from
Saturday thru Tuesday, Nov. 3-4-5-6, 2007 at the Paper
Valley Hotel in downtown Appleton.
The theme was “Sports Administration in the 21st Century.”
About 400 athletic directors and nearly 100 vendors from Wisconsin and the
Midwest attended

WADA presents 2007
scholarships
|

|
|
|
Six individuals from Wisconsin were honored, during the
2007 WADA Workshop, when the
2007 WADA Scholarships were presented. It was the second year of the scholarship.
Recognition of the recipients took place at the 41st annual Workshop, which
was held
in Appleton on November 3-4-5-6, 2007 at the Paper
Valley Hotel. Each of the
recipients was recognized during the WADA Annual Meeting, and each will
receive
a $500 scholarship award from the WADA. See
the list of recipients for 2007.
Each candidate was evaluated
based upon five categories:
-
Athletic Participation.
- Other
Co-Curricular Activities.
-
Non-School Affiliated Community Service.
-
Answers to Two Questions listed on the application.
-
Leadership Roles in Athletics and Other Co-Curricular Activities.

Program are available on the

the 2008 WADA Scholarship Program should be
available in early January, 2008 regarding the third annual scholarships.

your calendar for the 2008 WADA Workshop
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Vendors interested in attending the WADA Workshop this
coming fall, when the doors open
on the organization’s 42nd annual statewide convention,
should circle their calendar.
The dates
for next school year: Saturday, Nov. 8, thru Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008.
Vendor display dates for 2008 are expected to be Sunday & Monday, Nov. 9
& 10, 2008.
Remember, the WIAA calendar CHANGES in the 2008-09 school year, so be sure
to have
the correct dates for the WADA Workshop.
Vendors interested in reserving booth space in 2008 should so as soon as
possible,
once the info becomes available.
It is expected that all available space for 2008 will
once again fill up completely – as it has done for each of the past few
years.
The 2008 event will again be
held in downtown Appleton, WI -- at the Paper Valley Hotel,
333 W. College Ave. The events on Saturday, Nov. 8
are for the WADA Board and
WADA Past Presidents.

The 2007 event was held in Nashville, Tennessee – at the
Opryland Resort, from Dec. 14-18, 2007.
Mark your calendar… and make plans to attend the 2008 event! It will be the 38th annual
National Conference, and 32nd NIAAA Annual Meeting:
Dec.
13-16, 2008 – San Diego – Marriott
Hotel.

the WADA web site. A new category called the “WADA Mentoring Program”

means that assistance is just one
click away for an individual looking to deal with
|
|
|
the title of “AD” suddenly
attached to his/her office door at work. Find insight
|
|
|
or experience from current WADA members, as they are one
of the best sources
|
|
|
for information, guidance, confidence, and the
development of a peer in a new
|
|
|
position.
The program will channel the networking ability of the “New” and
|
|
|
the “Experienced” to form a partnership that will foster
a successful and perhaps
|
|
|
less “painful” introduction to interscholastic athletic
administration.
